Based in East Hanover, N.J., the Public Works Department of the Township of East Hanover specializes in the repair and maintenance of public properties. It caters to the residents of East Hanover in the maintenance of parking lots, repair of public properties, drainage system maintenance and street repair. The department conducts recycling programs annually for the maintenance of the environment. East Hanover residents and businesses recycled approximately 26,000 tons of recyclable material in 2008. Incorporated in 1928, the Township of East Hanover covers an area of 8.2 square miles. It is 25 miles west of New York City and 15 miles west of the City of Newark.
