General Info
Emily Goldstein and Victoria Munroe opened The Drawing Room gallery in East Hampton, New York in 2004, providing a venue to the East End community for exhibitions of postwar and contemporary painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and installations. The gallery also shows drawings from its growing inventory of 18th and 19th century European works on paper in the fields of Beaux Arts architecture, garden design, engineering, natural history and the decorative arts. With a program of ten annual exhibitions, The Drawing Room presents significant bodies of work by artists for whom the East End has been a source of inspiration or refuge, and periodically juxtaposes contemporary work with related historical drawings. Gallery artists include,,,,,,,,,, Jack Youngerman and Almond Zigmund. The Drawing Room also represents the estate of the Sardinian born sculptor and longtime East Hampton resident, Costantino Nivola (1911-1988) and the jewelry of his late wife Ruth Guggenheim Nivola (1917-2008). The co-directors each bring 25 years of curatorial and gallery experience to their collaboration. Emily Goldstein received a BA in art history from Vassar College before pursuing graduate studies and gallery work in New York. Since 1994, she curated postwar and contemporary gallery exhibitions and consulted for public and private collections. Victoria Munroe is a graduate in fine arts with a major in old master drawings from Harvard University. She has directed her own gallery in New York City and Boston since 1982.
