• Dental Examination
  For your child’s first visit to Central Jersey Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we like to do a comprehensive examination. This includes looking at your child’s teeth along with the supporting structures of the gums. The dentist will also address your child’s oral hygiene, as well as clean your child’s teeth. We will look at your child’s bite and will only take X-rays if necessary. This is the optimal time to ask questions about your child’s mouth and teeth.
• X-rays
  Dental x-rays are very safe and the amount of radiation from dental x-rays is very small. Our office uses digital x-rays, which minimizes radiation and restricts the x-ray beam to the area of interest. Dental radiographs represent a far smaller risk than an undetected and untreated dental problem.

  Dental sealants work to prevent cavities by sealing pits and fissures that naturally occur in molars. Sealants “seal off” the pit and fissure of your molars to prevent food and plaque from collecting and forming cavities.
