  In North Carolina, year round heartworm prevention is essential. Heartworms are spread by mosquitos and so even indoor only cats can be infected. We see mosquitos in our area year round so prevention must be maintained year round to keep your dog or cat from contracting heartworm disease. There are many good options for heartworm preventatives available, talk to one of our veterinarians to determine which is best for your pet.

• Arthritis Treatment
  There are many different options when it comes to managing pet’s pain. We have non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which are relatively mild. There are steroids, which often offer relief with their anti-inflammatory effects. There are also controlled substances, which are helpful with post-surgical pain. For arthritis pain, we offer glucosamine tablets and injectable glucosamine, if needed.

  Dr. Ashley Pooch’s life has always involved animals. She grew up in Wilmington and spent her childhood trying to befriend the stray kittens in her neighborhood and attempting to teach her family’s stubborn Heeler mix to jump over homemade obstacles with the hope that someday he would be an agility champion. It’s only natural she wanted to be a small animal veterinarian for as long as she can remember!
