Based in Durham, N.C., R.N. Harris Elementary School serves more than 300 students in kindergarten through grade five. It organizes a range of extracurricular activities that include instrumental and choral music programs, field trips and outdoor camps. The school s health department informs students about various issues, such as contagious diseases, special health problems, medications, and child abuse and neglect. The department additionally conducts hearing and vision tests. The elementary school operates a library that stocks a collection of books, magazines and newspapers. Operated by Durham Public Schools, R.N. Harris Elementary School offers lessons in several subjects, including vocabulary, arithmetic, science, social studies and health education. The school is supported by the Durham Technical Community College, North Carolina Central University, Duke University, North Carolina Museum of Art and Kappa's Big Brother Program.
