General Info
Dr. Abaza is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois and completed his residency at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. As director of Robotic Urologic Surgery and co-director of Ohio State's Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery, Dr. Abaza has a practice dedicated solely to robotic surgery and is one of the few surgeons in the country with experience in robotic surgery not only for prostate cancer but also for bladder cancer, kidney cancer, reconstructive kidney and ureteral procedures, adrenal tumors, urinary diversion, as well as other new and innovative procedures. Dr Abaza continues to be passionate about teaching. He organized and is course director for an annual urology resident preceptorship in robotic urologic surgery, the only program of its kind where residents from around the country travel to OSU to learn about robotics. He is also director of a Robotic Urologic Surgery Fellowship, which offers one year of additional training dedicated to robotic surgery for new urology residency graduates. He has been course director for a laparoscopy course at the American Urological Association's annual meeting for the past three years and this year organized a three-hour panel session on robotic surgery for the upcoming meeting of the American College of Surgeons through the ACS Committee on Emerging Surgical Technology and Education on which he serves.

Provided by Doctor.comThere are two kinds people that are physicians that are book taught and then there are physicians that have the natural God given gift of healing.
I have been in the medical field for 50 years now. I have seen all types of doctors. And when my husband needed a urologist the only person I would even consider is Doctor Abaza. He is the best of the best in his field. I’m grateful that we have him.
He’s very knowledgeable, professional and kind. He won’t tell you anything that he did not believein

Provided by Doctor.comHe doesn't even actually see you, he leaves it up to an intern. They give you a brochure on the robotic kidney surgery, which goes over the different pain management options after surgery. Once I had surgery and was in pain in the hospital I was told that Dr. Abaza does not believe in giving any pain management and was offered an Extra Strength Tylenol. The is complete misrepresentation and inhumane treatment.
