Ryder IP Law, PC ("RIPL") was formed in 2002 as a full service intellectual property (IP) boutique firm. RIPL was established with the mission of counseling our clients in the identification, development, use and protection of their IP rights and avoidance of others IP rights. RIPL handles the full scope of IP matters including preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, preparation of copyright registration applications, IP searches, IP legal opinions, licensing agreements, and IP procurement. Opinions RIPL prepares opinions including patentability opinions, patent infringement opinions, patent validity opinions, product clearance opinions, trademark ability opinions, trademark infringement opinions and mark clearance opinions. Agreements RIPL prepares agreements including non disclosure agreements, product evaluation agreements, non-compete agreements, manufacturing agreements, marketing agreements, and licensing agreements (e.g., exclusive, non-exclusive, field of use, cross-licensing).

Doug Ryder is the founder and president of Ryder IP Law, PC ("RIPL"). Prior to forming RIPL, Doug had nearly five years experience as an IP attorney. Immediately prior to forming RIPL, Doug was the lead IP attorney for a patent consulting company. The company created patent portfolios for their clients as well as creating strategic patent portfolios for internal projects. Doug played a vital role in the preparation and prosecution of an extensive US and foreign patent portfolio in the area of targeted advertising solutions, including profiling of viewers, advertisement matching, and advertisement delivery. Prior to this Doug worked at IP boutique firms where he counseled clients regarding IP matters and handled various IP matters for the clients. Prior to becoming an IP attorney, Doug was a program manager for a company that designed, developed and deployed systems controlling oceanic air traffic control to the FAA. Prior to this, Doug was a system engineer where tasks included analyzing the deployment readiness of various FAA systems, analyzing failed components and suggesting manufacturing or design changes for various missile programs, provisioning of parts for various military systems and designing a radiation hardened computer system. Doug has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, a Masters of Engineering Management from George Washington University, and his J.D. from the University of Maryland Law School.
