- AutismDr. Abel has extensive experience treating children, adults, and families who suffer from nearly every type of mental health problem, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, relationship issues, school-related issues and many others. Early in his career as Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatry at the Creekwood Center of Abington Memorial Hospital, he gained invaluable experience refining his skills while using all types of psychotropic medication and managing and navigating a wide variety of complex patient scenarios. Also, as a consultant for both the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and Delaware Valley University, Dr. Abel gained a deep understanding of mental health conditions within the elementary, high school, and college-age populations. In addition, Dr. Abel has spent a great deal of time working with children in foster care and in residential treatment facilities.

- PsychiatryDr. David Abel graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan, majoring in Psychology. He earned his medical degree in 1986 from Temple University School of Medicine. In 1989, he completed his residency in Psychiatry, and in 1991 he finished his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, both at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. While at Hahnemann, Dr. Abel received honorable mention from the Philadelphia County Medical Society for the Humaneness in Medicine award for his work with severely mentally disabled patients at Philadelphia State Hospital. In 2003, Dr. Abel completed his psychoanalytic training at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia in both child and adolescent, and adult psychoanalysis.
