Located in Huntington Station, N.Y., Western Suffolk BOCES is a regional educational service agency providing shared programs and services to school districts, students, parents and communities. The Boards of Cooperative Educational Services was founded in 1948, and serves more than 690 local school districts. It offers various programs, such as special education, career and technical education and instructional support services. Additionally, it offers various administrative and management services to the districts. Under its special education program it provides services to disabled children of 5 to 21 years of age. Its career and technical education division provides career and technical training of more than 16,000 secondary school students, and out-of-school youth and adults. It also offers various certificates and online programs in various subjects, including nursing, surgical technology, cosmetology, automotive, business management, computers, aircraft technology and human resource management. It additionally provides courses in airframe and power licenses, culinary arts, restaurant management, insurance, interior design and decoration, horticulture, landscaping, marine technology and sewing.
