General Info

Founded by five pioneers of skiing, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area opened in December of 1946 with one tow rope and a $1.25 lift ticket. Since then, Arapahoe Basin has undergone two terrain expansions and several renovations and upgrades, but the ski area has maintained the same local, laid-back vibe.

From the perspective of a lower-intermediate skier, A-Basin was a lot of fun! It was nice to find quality snow the last weekend in March. There were enough green and milder-blue slopes to keep us fully entertained for a day. Definitely there are many more advanced trails, so I expect to come back more often as we improve. We were impressed with the efficiency of the main lift. Despite a large number of skiers, the wait was never bad. We had a quality, and predictably expensive, lunch in the Legends Cafe. $4.25 for a fountain drink is excessive, but the $11 "10-8 Burger" and the $11.50 chicken tenders (with fries) were quite tasty.
