Founded in 1982, the Coalition On Temporary Shelter is a private, nonprofit organization. The agency provides emergency shelter, comprehensive support services, and transitional and permanent housing for homeless population. It provides a 140-bed shelter and single room occupancy for individuals. The agency operates a transitional housing program for homeless women and their children. It also sponsors various units of permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals with disabilities. The HUD Shelter + Care program subsidizes rental housing, including homes, duplexes and apartments. The agency also has a community mental health service provider that offers permanent supportive housing for individuals with serious mental illness.
