Founded in 2001, Gunnison Energy Corporation (GEC) focuses on drilling, producing and transporting natural gas and oil along the southern flank of Piceance Basin, Colo and other areas in the Rocky Mountain region. Piceance Basin, the firm s major area of operation, has the potential to become an important natural gas producing area serving several customers. Since its inception, the company has acquired oil and natural gas leases of over 100,000 net acres on both private and federal lands in the Delta, Mesa and Gunnison counties of Colorado. It is a member of the Oxbow Group of companies, which specializes in the global energy business with annual sales of $3.7 billion and total assets of $1.7 billion. Oxbow Mining LLC, which produces six million tons of bituminous coal annually from its Elk Creek Mine in western Colorado s North Fork Valley, is an affiliate of Gunnison Energy Corporation.
