Calhoun Middle School offers educational instruction to students in grades six through eight. The school has an enrollment of more than 800 students and is a part of the Denton Independent School District. It offers advanced-placement courses in math, algebra, geometry, history, English and science. The school also offers gifted and accelerated classes for students with exceptional ability. Each classroom is equipped with several computers. It provides elective classes in fine arts, such as band, choir, orchestra and theater arts. Additionally, the school offers Spanish, career investigations, art, technology applications, advanced technology classes, keyboarding and athletics. It provides various parent involvement opportunities, such as dad s club, parent-teacher association, mentor and tutoring program, fall and spring open house, annual book fair, teacher appreciation week, volunteer program and campus leadership team.
