Habersham County Behavioral Health Services, located in Demorest, Ga., is a part of Avita Community Partners, which was formed in 1993 by the Georgia State Legislature to serve people experiencing the disabling effects of mental illnesses, developmental disabilities and addictive diseases. Originally founded as Georgia Mountains Community Services, Avita Community Partners seeks to promote safe, stable and meaningful lives for citizens in an over 10-county area of northeast Georgia. The agency offers a variety of services and programs that are aimed at helping individuals, families and communities. It offers various short-term individual, family and group educational and counseling services that teach topics, such as living and parenting skills, anxiety and phobia symptoms management, self-esteem boosters, depression recovery techniques, and medication, anger and stress management.
