General Info

After graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Michael E. Sandler decided to return back to his home state of Florida. Upon return to Florida, he was asked to join the staff at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami. After having witnessed several extraordinary and rare eye conditions while working alongside some of the worlds most renowned eye surgeons, Dr. Sandler made the decision to open his own Optometry practice. Since being established in 1984, he has specialized in contact lenses, pediatric optometry, as well as diagnosing and treating eye diseases. These specialties in optometry are the foundation of his practice. In addition to his specialties, Dr. Sandler expanded his practice and became an optometrist for athletes, with a focus in Major League Baseball players. His experiences led him to become the Montreal Expos (1987-1999), New York Mets (2003), and the Miami Marlins eye doctor (1993-current). Athletic departments, including Florida Atlantic University football, Nova Southeastern University baseball, and USA baseball had requested Dr. Sandlers vision screening and treatment. Currently, Dr. Sandler is celebrating his 28th anniversary being the team eye doctor of the Miami Marlins. With each Miami Marlins world series win, Dr. Sandler has received a World Series ring of his own to commemorate him as the teams eye doctor. Dr. Sandler has also achieved honor by the PBAT, Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers society, for exceeding twenty years of service in Major League Baseball. He is board certified by the Florida Board of Optometry and the Illinois Board of Optometry.
