About Chaffhaye During the 1920's, the British Royalty sent many horses around the world. In those days, the horses were fed the local feed of each host country, wreaking havoc on the respiratory and digestive systems of the animals. After one particularly bad episode, nutritionists were commissioned to develop a consistent feed product that could accommodate the horses' rigorous travel schedule. After much research, the nutritionists developed a unique forage product using whole blade grass, a kiss of molasses and compressed into specialty packaging to ensure a highly beneficial fermentation process. At the time, the product was a breakthrough development in equine feeding programs. Nearly 20 years ago, a plant in the United States was established to grow and package dust-free, premium-grade forage that was named Chaffhaye. Based on extensive consultation with the USDA, the developers of Chaffhaye located its pastures near the remote high desert town of Dell City, Texas. With its ideal climate, abundance of water, and fertile soil, it turned out to be one of the premier growing regions for forage in all of America. Aside from an occasional herd of antelope that graze at the pasture's edge, our fields are virtually pest free as a lush oasis amid an arid desert. Today, we are proud to operate a state-of-the-art facility that has become the leading producer of premium bagged forage in the U.S. Our goal is to cultivate and produce the finest all-natural forage product on the market, elevating the performance and well-being of horses, ruminants, and other grazers.
