St. James Episcopal School is dedicated to providing an environment wherein children are taught Christian values and principles and how to integrate those ideals in their life and work. It is a place where students are taught to develop and apply strong, clearly defined academic skills and to acquire the foundation upon which they may pursue life-long learning. St. James Episcopal School is fully accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools, which is an accrediting organization recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools and the Texas Education Agency and approved by the Commissioner of Education. A top priority for every family is to find a school in which children can quickly adjust and be happy while receiving a quality education. St. James School provides an environment in which children can develop academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our students are tested annually using the ITBS ( Iowa Test of Basic Skills ). This test allows us to evaluate our program from year to year to ensure that we continue to provide a high quality education to our students. We continue to offer an enhanced extended day program with licensed care, and educational courses such as mathematics, reading, and art after school hours. The School Board, Faculty and Staff goals continue to include a quality education in a loving, Christian environment. All 26 faculty and staff members participate in extended educational opportunities throughout the year in the form of conferences, workshops and retreats which allows for new information and updated techniques to be brought into the classrooms with developmentally appropriate curriculum. We continue to strive to meet Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools criteria for student testing, facilities, reporting and faculty training and salary parity with local public school systems. The Claudia Abbey-Ball Endowment Fund continues to grow each year as we work towards our goal of increasing faculty salaries to parity with the local public schools. W e continue to work towards our goal of increasing the value of the fund each year to an amount that will allow us to increase our salaries for highly qualified educators.
