As a counselor / therapist with well over 25,000 hours of hands-on experience, I see people for a large variety of problems, including: Anger and Impulse-Control Difficulties Conflicted Relationships (both Couples and Family) Low Self-Esteem and Self-Image Deficits Depression, Grief and Guilt Compulsive / Addictive Behaviors (Related to Substances, Activities or Relationships) Anxiety, Phobias and Panic Attacks Stress-Related Disturbances and Health Conditions Sexual Issues Career Impasses or Indecision Major Life Changes and Crises Chronic Problems, Emotional, Mental and/or Physical Resulting from Past Abuse / Trauma (Typically, through the Use of EMDR) In general, I do everything possible to provide the people I work with a safe place to: Work through uncomfortable thoughts and feelings Develop useful insights about themselves and others Discover new and more effective ways of self-expression, communication and problem solving Ultimately, my aim is to help other achieve a state of well-being, inner contentment, or peace of mind that has eluded them. And, as a committed professional, working collaboratively with clients to assist them in achieving their goals is especially gratifying to me. Many years ago I published a book for mental health professionals on difficult-to-use therapeutic techniques (Paradoxical Strategies in Psychotherapy). At present, I "post" regularly for Psychology Today's renowned blogsite on personal / interpersonal issues common to us all.
