WFXT is an American television station that uses the on-air brand FOX25. It is the Fox television network affiliate in Boston. Its transmitter is located in Newton, Mass., while its studios are located in Dedham, Mass. It is one of six Boston television stations seen in Canada on the Bell ExpressVu satellite provider. The station began on the airwaves in 1977 as WXNE-TV and was originally owned by the Christian Broadcasting Network. WFXT was purchased by News Corporation and Fox television. FOX25 runs more than 30 hours a week of local news along with first-run syndicated talk, reality and court shows. The station also airs some off-network sitcoms. WFXT was the television flagship of the Boston Red Sox for the baseball team's 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons.
