Provided by YP.comThese look nice on the outside, but living here has gone downhill quickly. I am choosing not to renew my lease based on poor service from Towne Properties.
The hallway lights inside the building are on a timer that is poorly set. They don't turn on when it's too dark to see in the hallway. It's not safe and it makes jamming my key into my door a guessing game of where the doorknob/keyhole is. This has been brought to management's attention several times and nothing has been done about it.
The on-site laundry facilities are supposed to be secure. It's a joke. The knob fell off/broke over a year ago and now there is just a hole there.
Maintenance does not correctly fix problems. My window did not shut correctly for over a year before they sort of fixed it.
The heating/AC is on a boiler system. The office explained to me that either their system is on heat or on the AC but once it switches over, that's it. Unfortunately, during spring and fall when the weather is unpredictable, I cannot heat or cool my apartment to a comfortable temperature. When we had super hot weather during spring, the boiler system was still on heat, so I could not run my AC to cool my apartment. My pet was overheating and dehydrating. Opening my windows and turning on fans helped bring the internal temperature of my apartment down to 83 from the 86 it was outside.
Additionally, their rent increases are too much from year to year and they do not offer better rates to their continuing tenants. The last time I had a rent increase, the cheapest I was able to renew my 1 bedroom was for $560/mo (plus pet fees). However, they are advertised online at $530/mo. After speaking with the office representatives about this discrepancy in price, no offers were made to accommodate me with the lower price as offered to new tenants. I feel as a long term tenant in good standing with Towne Properties that I should be offered the same excellent rates as listed on the website, if not lower. Since Town Properties has been unable and unwilling to resolve this, I will no longer give them my business and my money.
I do not recommend them to any prospective tenants. I believe money is best spent elsewhere.
