- Dental ExaminationYour initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of interproximal decay of posterior teeth.
- X-rays○ Dental X-rays are a valuable tool for diagnosing oral issues and are generally safe due to their low radiation dose. Advanced technology like digital radiography further minimizes exposure. We also follow strict guidelines to minimize risks such as using protective lead aprons and minimizing the radiation levels. The potential benefits of early detection and treatment of dental problems usually outweigh the minimal risks of X-ray exposure.
- Teeth Cleaning○ It’s generally recommended to get your teeth professionally cleaned by a dentist or dental hygienist every six months. Regular dental cleanings help prevent the buildup of plaque, tartar, and potential oral health issues. However, the optimal frequency might vary based on factors such as oral hygiene habits, medical conditions, and susceptibility to dental problems. We can provide personalized guidance on how often you should schedule cleanings to maintain a healthy smile.
- Fillings
- VeneersTeeth that are badly stained, shaped or crooked may be improved by a veneer placed on the surface of the affected teeth.
- CrownsA tooth must usually be reduced in size to accommodate a crown. A digital or putty impression is made of the existing tooth. The impression is sent to a special lab, which manufactures a custom-designed crown. In some cases, a temporary crown is applied until the permanent crown is ready. Permanent crowns are cemented in place.
- BridgesYou can trust us with all of your dental needs because we only use the latest technology and techniques available today, including the iTero Digital Impression System. Patients love the iTero because it eliminates the need to make multiple, and often uncomfortable, impressions.
- Dental BondingWhitening agents actually change the color of your teeth, but only are effective on certain types of stains. For example, bleaching agents have a difficult time removing brownish or grayish stains. These products also are not as effective on pitted or badly discolored teeth, or on restorations such as crowns, bridges, bonding and tooth-colored fillings (porcelain veneers or dental bonding may be more appropriate in this case).
- Restorative DentistryDr. William Almoney received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, and in 1998, he graduated with honors from the Ohio State University – College of Dentistry. Dr. Almoney returned home to Dayton to join his father in practice and also taught restorative dentistry at Ohio State University. For ten years, he enjoyed the opportunity to work beside his father and is committed to providing the same patient-centered care upon which the practice was built.
- Root Canal TreatmentPorcelain veneers can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline, by an injury, or as a result of a root-canal procedure, and are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider porcelain veneers.
- Deep Cleaning
- DenturesBridges are sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants. Some bridges are removable and can be cleaned by the wearer; others need to be removed by a dentist.
- Dental ImplantsNot everyone is a candidate for a dental implant, however. For a successful implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a strong immune system. In all cases, dental implants require strict oral hygiene.
