- Dental CareDental care is vital to the overall health of any pet. Dental disease can lead to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population. In spite of these disturbing facts, many pet owners are not aware of the importance of dental care to their pets’ health. There are a lot of different ways to improve your pets’ dental hygiene, including home brushing, dental chews, and regular inspection. The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is through professional cleanings. We perform thorough cleanings here at Danville Veterinary Hospital, including the area beneath the gums that you can’t see or access at home.
- VaccinationHi I’m Bri. I have been enthralled with the world of animals from a young age. I started volunteering in 2008 at the Indianapolis Zoo in their Zoo Teen program, and my work and interest in the field of animals has taken off ever since. Most of my animal welfare background has focused on volunteer positions, shelter and rescue work, as well as low-cost vaccination and neuter clinics. My position here at Danville Veterinary Hospital is my first time working in a full-service veterinary hospital. There is definitely a contrast between a full-service hospital and vaccination clinics, so there was an adjustment period when I first started. I have enjoyed the challenge though and have loved getting to know the staff and clients here at DVH.

- Behavioral CounselingPets with behavioral problems can often pose a frustrating challenge for pet owners. However, through behavioral consultations we can correct unwanted behaviors and enrich both your life and your pets’ life.
- Nutritional CounselingObesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be easy to over-feed a pet that knows how to beg. But being overweight is a serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range. Pets’ nutritional needs change as they enter different stages of their lives. The best way to make sure your pet’s needs are being met is to consult with us about a diet made specifically for his or her lifestyle.
- Comprehensive ExaminationOur staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. Then, one of our veterinarians will do a complete physical examination on your pet. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill. We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. It is much easier to start a diet when a pet is a pound overweight instead of fifteen! Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we are able to catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!

- Laboratory ServicesDanville Veterinary Hospital is pleased to have a laboratory in our hospital. We are very proud of our laboratory. We are able to perform many diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently in it. We can do many simple tests but are also able to offer some more complex ones, too! We are able to run heartworm tests, leukemia and FIV tests, and full blood work for those who are interested in it. There are also many other tests we offer our patients. The best part of being able to run laboratory tests in our hospital is that we can diagnose your pets much sooner than if we had to send the blood work out to another laboratory. Whenever your pets are not feeling well, we can offer you results and a diagnosis in minutes instead of making you wait a day (or more) for the results. Knowing what is wrong with your pets quickly allows us to start treatment sooner so they can get back to normal as soon as possible. We will do everything we can to make your pets as comfortable as possible. We pride ourselves on helping pets as fast as possible! If your pets are sick, we would love to be able to give you answers much sooner than you might expect. We make it our goal to get your pets feeling better as quickly as we can.

- MicrochippingAt Danville Veterinary Hospital, we are happy to offer microchipping. Every year, thousands and thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often. But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s’ safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pets’ fur. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure and is completely safe. This microchip is registered with your pets’ vital information and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you.
