McLane Midwest, the 10th division of the McLane Company, was formed in 1989 when the McLane Company purchased the Malone and Hyde facility in Carmi, Ill. After several years of operating in the Carmi area, the Midwest division picked up its roots and moved into a brand new facility located in Danville, Ill., its current home. Since that time, McLane Midwest has grown into a 439,000-square-foot facility with approximately 800 teammates employed, making it the second-largest employer in the Vermilion County. From its more than 35 grocery and food service distribution centers, McLane services every state and county in the United States. Additionally, it provides third-party logistics, traffic management and control functions in South America. Services provided by the company include grocery distribution, food service distribution, software solutions, retail services, control label products and novelty items. McLane, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, employs some 14,000 people nationwide. The company is headquartered in Temple, Texas.
