General Info

The International Education Program ( IEP ) of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth seeks to educate students and teachers on how global issues affect their lives by helping them gain a critical understanding of important international topics and empowering them to become informed, independent thinkers about world affairs. Please see "Why is International Education Important?" to learn more on the necessity for global learning in our classrooms. Conduct professional development programs, including those for Gifted and Talented Credit, for teachers and provide them with current resources Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD has pioneered a dynamic new district-wide membership with the World Affairs Council. As a result, all social studies and foreign language teachers in HEBISD are entitled to a free Educational Associate Membership with the Council. This membership gives teachers a great resource for bringing the world to their students, while enjoying some great programming themselves! For more details, explanation of benefits or to sign up, please contact Tony Brown at tbrown@dfwworld.org. The Council, an excellent way to enhance your knowledge about international affairs, offers a selection of four-to-eight programs per month. Whether you prefer early morning breakfasts, luncheons, or evening forums, the Council provides a wide array of events throughout the Greater DFW area. Members are also invited to participate in Great Decisions, the Council's monthly discussion group. At each meeting, a moderator facilitates lively discussion on a current international issue. Topics may range from the Media in Foreign Policy, Public Diplomacy, U.S. and Europe, to Reform in the Middle East. Click here to learn more about membership and it's benefits. * Please note membership is not required for participation in International Education Program events.
