W.H. Gaston Middle School enrolls more than 900 students annually in grades six through eight and employs over 70 people. The school s curriculum includes classes in English, mathematics, science and social studies. It offers various extracurricular activities that include music, art, band, orchestra and choir. The school also supports the gifted and talented education program. W.H. Gaston Middle School has a parent-teacher-association that organizes social events and programs. The school operates lady steppers and spirit clubs, as well as a student council. It provides membership in the National Junior Honor Society. W.H. Gaston Middle School offers opportunities for students to participate in soccer tournaments. It is a part of the Dallas Independent School District, which governs various elementary, middle and high schools.
