It is a part of Unitrin, which is a Chicago-based financial services company. Unitrin Specialty underwrites two lines of insurance, including private passenger automobile and commercial auto insurance. It has more than 700 employees and has a service network in over 20 states. Unitrin Specialty underwrites personal and commercial auto insurance through Unitrin County Mutual Insurance Company, Alpha Property and Casualty Insurance Company, Charter Indemnity Company, Financial Indemnity Company and Valley Insurance. Headquartered in Dallas, Unitrin Specialty also has offices located in Woodland Hills, Calif., and Salem, Ore.
