I strongly advise against using this company's services. I rarely write and leave reviews, however I feel compelled to caution anyone who is considering using Lifeworks Recovery, ESPECIALLY partners of recovering sex addicts. My experience here was the opposite of what Lifeworks claimed to do, and instead of "helping the partners heal their trauma first...and helping the spouse and partner of an addict get the truth, set and maintain healthy boundaries, and stop the crazy-making...", Lifeworks adversely perpetuated the trauma, took away my sense of reality and created a bigger schism in my marriage and relationship than the addiction itself.I entered into therapy with Lifeworks very optimistic, with the full intention of staying in the marriage and working through the damage wrought upon my life through my partner's addiction. My partner worked with CSAT Aaron "Gene" Hunt for over a year before the sex addiction was disclosed to me at the setting of the Lifeworks' office. I had to experience 2 more disclosures following this initial meeting because pertinent information was consistently withheld from me. I only discovered the severity of the addiction once I found innumerable emails and Craigslist adds of my partner soliciting sex from strangers over the course of our 6 year relationship. CSAT Aaron and Lifeworks Recovery seemed determined to hide this information from me, and Aaron worked with my partner to prepare a formal disclosure stating that my partner's addictive behaviors had ceased when he entered the relationship with me. This could not have been further from the truth! When I confronted Aaron and my partner with evidence of infidelity, Aaron did not act surprised or concerned. I requested that my partner seek a rehabilitation facility because I believed that he needed greater help than a weekly visit with Aaron, but Aaron advised against this and persuaded my partner that I was only attempting to control his recovery and the situation. He instructed my partner to instead spend more money and time with Lifeworks, which felt manipulative and ethically dishonest. I was even told by Lifeworks that I did not have the authority or capacity to consider a divorce unless I continued doing work with them. I have since terminated services with Lifeworks and am continuing my therapy through a different company. I am now in the middle of a messy divorce, but I can't help feeling that things might have gone differently if my partner and I had chosen to seek counseling through a company other than Lifeworks. Sex addiction is a painful, emotionally damaging experience for anyone, but mine was compounded exponentially by Aaron and Lifeworks Recovery. I would truly hate for anyone to have to repeat this experience. If you are a partner of a sex addict and you are reading this, please keep faith in yourself and render your time, money and future elsewhere.
