- Dental CareSt Francis Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care serving the surrounding Dallas and Acworth neighboring communities. Our hospital logo, which is a paw within a heart, symbolizes the heartfelt compassionate care with which we strive to respect and maintain for your beloved pet and family member.
- VaccinationFor the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.
- Nutritional CounselingDietary Counseling: We will provide guidance through the "land on many myths" regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
- Comprehensive ExaminationBecause of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best...
- Parasites Treatment and ControlPharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, medicated shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
- Pain ManagementAnything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Period. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.
- Vomiting Treatment
- Wound and Fracture Care
- Dental SurgeryDentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
- Veterinary SurgerySurgical Services: We are equipped to perform a large variety of soft tissue surgical procedures, both routine and emergency. We will discuss all procedures and provide an estimate of total cost for all procedures, allowing you to make a very informed decision. Orthopedic procedures are referred to specialist for optimum service and outcome.
- Spaying and NeuteringSpaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Current vaccinations are required at the time of surgery. Also a pre-anesthetic blood screen is recommended prior to undergoing anesthesia and surgery.
- Laboratory ServicesWe offer three levels of in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in. Our doctors prefer the more comprehensive screen, because it gives them the most information to ensure the safety of your pet. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may be required before surgery as well.
