The Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Department is a full-service agency that provides a variety of law enforcement solutions for the general public. It offers services to the citizens of Tallapoosa County in Alabama. The department maintains patrol, communications, investigation, and special weapon and tactics divisions. It provides crime investigation, witness interviewing, accident site reconstruction, stolen property recovery, training and emergency medical services. The department additionally offers tips on various topics, such as burglary prevention, auto theft, neighborhood safety, and home and apartment security. It provides educational, crime prevention, and drug and alcohol addiction recovery programs. The department operates the Tallapoosa County Jail, which serves more than 140 felony defendants and convicted felons. It has a staff of over 50 full-time and nearly 10 part-time employees. The Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Department is part of the government of Tallapoosa County, which also operates coroner, economic development and maintenance departments.
