The Gilchrist Center provides programs and activities for children up to 48 months old. Its activities include art, music and computer classes, dramatic plays, and indoor and outdoor games. The center additionally provides parent enrichment and computer literacy programs. The Gilchrist Center is located in Cumberland, Md., and is owned and operated by the Cumberland YMCA, which is a nonprofit organization that offers various youth and community development programs. The parent company offers a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, soccer football and volleyball. In addition, the organization conducts adult swimming workshops that include one-on-one instruction on the proper techniques of freestyle swimming strokes.
