General Info

Dr. Tom Ghobrial has been serving the tri-state area since August of 1997. He grew up in suburban Potomac, Maryland where he graduated from Charles Woodward High School. He pursued his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland during which he was selected for an opportunity to do research at the National Institutes of Health. In 1988 Dr. Ghobrial was granted a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a focus on Microbiology from the College of Life Sciences at the University of Maryland College Park. He then earned a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine at Baltimore in 1992. Dr. Ghobrial completed his surgical internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Systems. Dr. Ghobrial's treatment specialties include, but are not limited to joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, fracture and trauma management, as well as shoulder surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Published works by Dr. Ghobrial includes, "Proximal Ulna Shaft Fractures and Associated Compartment Syndromes," which was published in the American Journal of Orthopedics in September 2001. In addition to practicing surgery, Dr. Ghobrial feels it is important to give back to the community. He supports and takes an active role as the team physician for Frankfort High School, and performs sports physicals for Bishop Walsh High School. He is also the tournament physician for the YMCA Collegiate Hockey and the Winners Corner Boxing tournaments. Dr. Ghobrial is also the event chair for the annual Western Maryland March of Dimes Bikers for Babies Ride. When he is not working, Dr. Ghobrial enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
