There's a reason why the grey-fuzzy haired owner at "Maybe This 2" can't keep employees for long. (Even her daughter ran away.) She's very stiff and is difficult to talk to, is frantic, paranoid about who comes in to shop...and follows them around. She has installed hidden microphones in the two stores, and I saw her monitoring conversations of shoppers that were out of view. (It's ILLEGAL to record people without express permission or posting that you have hidden microphones)! The few times that I shopped there, I felt she sized me up based on my nice car and clothes, then arbitrarily put a higher price on anything I picked up. (The items are not marked with prices.) I inquired about a small old mirror, and she said, "Well, if YOU really want it, it will be 40$!" It was worth five bucks at best. She decides on the spot what to charge you. Every time I've gone in to "Maybe This", I walked out of there feeling a bit ill about her predatory and dark energy. I know of others in town who relate having the same experience. She's quick to make the excuse that she "sets up poor people" with her goods, so she has some kind of non-profit status, but she said she preferred cash to her quirky, slow hand-held credit card scanner, so I get the feeling that she keeps anything she can off of the books. If you ARE poor, don't expect any deals or help from her. It appears that her "helping the poor", claim might be a front to line her own pockets, the items are not cleaned, (I picked off greasy food off of a coat that I saw there and dirt caking shoes), and she generally demands what the used items would go for if they were NEW. If you are donating, please give to any of the other wonderful charities in town!
