I rented a unit from these people for almost a year. I always sent them a money order for the rent no later than the 2nd of the month. So it was always postmarked on or before the 5th (after the 5th a late fee would be charged).

However during the holidays I was charged $60 dollars in late fees, even though my mailings were postmark before the 5th, because the office manager said she didn't get the payments until the 6th or 7th. I've dealt with other storage units throughout Tennessee, from Memphis to Knoxville and never has anyone charged a late fee for a money order with the appropriate postmark date. I can't control when the mailman will actually make the delivery and it's not like I could have driven to the office to make sure the payment was in her hand, as I was living in New Orleans, La at the time and they don't offer payments online or over the phone.



When I went to visit my unit some months later, there were dead mice and other critters and their eggs everywhere. It was disgusting. They need to have pest control on outdoor storage units. I finally moved my things out of the unit on June 7th, 2013 and they charged me for an extra month (July) because my notice to vacate was less than 30 days; not to mention the money I had already paid them for the month of June 2013. I helped my daughter move her belongings out of storage not too far from KP's and she didn't have to give notice whatsoever; just clean the unit and return the keys and lock. If I'm not mistaken, she rented from AAA Pioneer.



These people at KP Storage have no concept of keeping the customer happy. I got attitude the whole time I had to deal with them after I signed the lease.
