The Cookeville Public Works and Engineering Department is a public service department that provides various services, including street safety and maintenance, street sweeping, and maintenance of water and sewer utilities. It is responsible for street maintenance, sidewalk repairs, maintenance of traffic signals, drains, leaf and snow removal, maintaining street signs, stormwater management, and engineering and road projects. It employs more than 60 people and has over 80 vehicles and equipment for providing services. It also offers weekly curbside garbage collection services to more than 10,000 households and commercial collection to over 700 businesses and industries. The department provides water system maintenance services, including production, treatment, storage and distribution. In addition, the firm offers sewer and storm drainage services that include collection, pumping and treatment of sewage. The public works department also provides engineering reviews and inspections of developmental projects, and undertakes public capital and replacement projects. It is located in Cookeville, Tenn.
