- Room Additions
- New ConstructionIn this historic district, different house additions must have a different roof to document the structure’s past. In this case, the new back addition received asphalt shingles. We tinted the acrylic to match the asphalt shingles, thus tying the vintage roof to the new construction.
- DrivewaysThe heart work of Patriot’s Circle began in the winter two years ago after two powerful blizzards dumped some 50+ inches of snow in less than two weeks. All of you remember it well. The damage was significant as the entire equipment shed that Rex had erected was pancaked onto the ground from the sheer weight of the snow. Carol and Ed were first on the scene to survey the damage once Dwight cleared a path through fallen trees in the driveway. The report was pretty concise: “It’s a mess”. More heart work needed to be done.
- Window Installation/Replacement
- GuttersBoth standing seam metal roofs and embossed tin shingles can be found in all parts of the Commonwealth. For example, in Burkeville south and west of Richmond along the railroad line, a large residence with a black metal roof stands out in the neighborhood. The roof was in excellent condition for its age, with the inside gutters still in good working order. With some work, we were able to improve the gutters appearance as viewed from the windows. (In Virginia, I avoid using the “Yankee gutter” label.)
- SidingThe brick siding on this structure is particularly attractive. Suzy wanted to accent the brick siding with a special version of bronze. Her upper roof shape up beautifully with a thorough cleaning, primer and two coats of “Suzy’s bronze.”
- Residential Roof RepairOn a standing seam panel, the tin roof repair applies mesh over a basecoat application. The mesh is smoothed and contoured to the profile of the roof. Every standing seam receives attention from the hands of the crew members.
- Residential Roof Replacement/InstallationWhen This Old House introduced the concept of applying acrylics as a method to preserve old metal roofing, Lester Mobley’s artistic talent discovered an outlet for his abilities. And this owner happily combined roofing work with her interest in history. Since 2000, vintage metal restoration work has become our signature in six states.
- Commercial Roof RepairBoth owner and crew chief began working on commercial roofing projects using the white acrylics as an integral part of the system to create cool roofs. Commercial building owners quickly understood the economic value of a white roof over black surfaces.

- Residential Pressure WashingThe crew performed straight forward restoration work on this stamped shingle roof. Pressure washing cleaned the roof surface. Then, the guys applied a strong primer to retard rust. Finally they brushed down two coats of a light grey acrylic from Andek Corporaiton. Detail work included applications to the drip edge and other minor flashing work.
