Founded in 1906, Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., an Oregon-based corporation, is one of the largest recyclers of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, a recycler of used and salvaged vehicles and a manufacturer of finished steel products. It operates with three vertically integrated business units; the Metals Recycling Business (MRB), the Auto Parts Business (APB) and the Steel Manufacturing Business (SMB). Metals Recycling Business collects, trades, brokers, processes and recycles metals. Auto Parts Business is dedicated to supply low-cost used auto parts to its customers. Steel Manufacturing Business produces a wide range of finished steel products using recycled metal and other raw materials. Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. is a publicly traded company.
