The Board of Retirement is an independent public entity responsible for general management of the association, and administers the Contra Costa County Employees Retirement Association. With assistance from qualified professionals in the pension industry, the board adopts regulations, policies and procedures that are relevant to the association for the purpose of benefiting the members. Contra Costa County Employees Retirement Association is also governed by the California Constitution. The retirement board is made up of 12 trustees, out of which three are alternates. The county board of supervisors appoints trustees. Four trustees are elected by the association s active members and two are elected by the retired membership. The county treasurer serves as an ex officio member. The board is headquartered in Concord, Calif.
