City of Columbus Department of Development operates under the government of the city of Columbus in Ohio. It provides programs and services that guide planned growth, facilitate economic opportunity and help build thriving neighborhoods for the citizens. The department operates through building services, economic development, land redevelopment, neighborhood services, planning and housing divisions, as well as the director's office. The Department of Development s building services division regulates land use through its zoning functions, reviews building plans, inspects new construction and issues permits for all construction within the city. Its land redevelopment division acquires properties through tax delinquency and donation and receives surplus from other city departments and outside agencies. The Department of Development s Housing Division collaborates with federal, state and local government, as well as housing agencies to strategically target its resources for neighborhood investment.
