Established in 1959, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, also known as OCRC, receives and investigates charges of discrimination in employment, public accommodations and higher education on the bases of race, color, religion, sex and age. The commission initiates the investigations of discriminatory practices. It also conducts surveys on the existence and effect of discrimination. The Ohio Civil Rights Commission provides educational and training-related services. In addition, the commission holds public hearings, as well as collects monetary benefits. It has a staff of more than 200 employees. The Ohio Civil Rights Commission provides legal assistance services. The commission maintains a location in Columbus, Ohio.
