Founded in 1924 by six cardiologists, the American Heart Association is a full-service heart health care services voluntary health agency. The association offers skilled health care services related to cardiovascular diseases and supports stroke afflict people of all races, ethnicities, genders, religions, ages, sexual orientations, national origins and disabilities. It provides various preventive, educational and awareness programs related to heart failure, cholesterol, peripheral artery disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, and diet and nutrition. The American Heart Association spends its funds on research and development, educational programs and health care activities for the benefit the general public in the United States.
