Bureau of Protective Services, formed in 1994, is a police agency providing security to the departments of the state of South Carolina. The agency provides security for the Department of Health and Environmental Control, Department of Probation, Department of Revenue, Commission for the Blind, Department of Labor and the University of South Carolina Library. The agency also has an explosive detection team. Additional services provided by the agency include criminal investigations, traffic regulations, security alarms and security escorts. Bureau of Protective Services is accredited by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Its office is located in Blythewood, S.C.
