Energetics was formed in 1979 when a group of engineers in Columbia, Md., combined their consulting firms. Named after a branch of mechanics that deal with energy and its transformations, Energetics primarily provided consulting services to offices with the United States Department of Energy. In 1995, VSE Corporation purchased Energetics, providing the company with a growth and diversification opportunities. It has grown from a company in a small office to a 75-employee company with three offices. Besides its headquarters in Columbia, Md., the company maintains operations in Washington, D.C., and Morgantown, W. Va. In addition to the U.S. Department of Energy, Energetics clients include range of energy and environmental programs in public and private sectors.
