General Info
Established in 1887, the Colton Public Utilities participates in a number of community activities and annually hosts Public Power Week. The department provides a variety of services, such as electric and water meter readings, energy conservation tips, and electric, water, sewer and trash services. Refuse and trash service is provided by Colton Disposal. The department receives power from a variety of resources, such as San Juan Generating Station Unit 3, Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station and the Hoover Dam. Its potable water system facilities consist of more than 15 wells, five main booster pumping plants, over 10 water storage reservoirs, two pressure reducing facilities and nearly 120 miles of water transmission and distribution pipelines. Colton Public Utilities is a part of the city of Colton, which owns, operates and maintains a waste water collection, pumping and treatment system in the state of California.
