i went in to Dat's Italian for my birthday, and although it took awhile for us to get seated, and to get the to take our order, we *my fiancee and I* loved thier food, and i can't wait to go and try it again, hopefully this time it don't take awhile to be seated or to get our server to take our order
We didnt appreciate trying to be forced to sit at a tiny table by one of the waiters when there were larger tables available. We were told that it is Saturday night & they will be getting busy... Do they want our business or not? They need to learn not to argue with the customers!
service ok, food ok, but I spent $8 plus for lunch and NO bread, my friend ordered a pasta dish too, and her's came w/bread. Waiter said mine didn't come with it - strange? Cookies/goodies as you walk in looks awesome...price was 2 for $3.98 which I knew was way overpriced...but they looked soooo good..bought 2 of 2 different kinds...they were aweful...could not believe you could make something so pretty and taste so bad. One sort of tasted like a donut hole with sprinkles the other was really tastless - and sort of a rubbery taste/feel to it...strange - I don't think I will go back. Oh..no salad with the meal either....my friend & I sharred the 1 piece of bread - and no butter came with that bread...sort of a strange place.
I relocated here from Ohio, and stopped in with some new friends. The atmosphere was great, the owners were super friendly. They even gave out hugs! I especially liked the owners sister, she made for a fun evening. I love places that are personable, and relaxed. The food was great, simple Italian food, nothing to crazy, but again exactly what I like! Great Job Dennis and JoAnn

My wife and I just got home from a day spent in Old Colorado City, highlighted by a terrific dinner at Dat's Italian. It was our first visit to this new Italian eatery, but it most certainly will not be our last! The owners, Dennis and JoAnn Trujillo made us feel like family joining an Italian family dinner. It may have helped that my wife and I are also 3rd generation Italian and I came from Brooklyn, as did JoAnn and Dennis. My wife and I shared two entrees between us, so we would each get a taste of two different dishes. We had Lasagna with meat sauce and their speciality, Sicilian Spaghetti Pie with Alfredo sauce. Both dishes were aromatically flavorful and delicious. The Lasagna reminded us of the type of hearty meal we might have at our grandma's house. The Spaghetti Pie was new to us, and was an absolute taste sensation that will definitely bear repeating! And, at $8.95 each, the entrees are very reasonably priced. Cathy & Joe R. Luciano

I attended DAT's Italian Restaurant for a wine tasting sponsored by Vintage Wines. Attending wine/cuisine tasting is kind of like a hobby for a group of us wine loving folks. We have probably attended 100s of wine tastings in the past few years in Colorado Springs and Denver. All I can say is ?BIG Wow? for this wonderful restaurant?s food. I absolutely loved it, we were fortunate enough to be served by the whole family. The family atmosphere was like being at the home of an Italian/Hispanic family! The dining area is very charming and comfortable. The food is absolutely superb ? authentic, creative and at the same time simple. My favorite was the Ancona Seafood soup. It was to die for!!!! In addition the Cannoli for dessert is sinfully good. The owners are lovely people. Overall, dining at DAT?s was a wonderful experience not to be missed! We will certainly make it a weekly event

We went to Dat's last week, great atmosphere, wonderful food and at a reasonable price. The spaghetti pie was killer. Even my vegetarian girlfriend loved the zucchini patties and was very surprised at the dish. Loved it, we will be back very soon.
great!!! Love it!!! Fresh, innovative, fun, creative new place to get some really tasty, mama mia type of food! Try it!!

Absolutely horrible. My husband and I stopped in at Dats Italian for dinner this week as we had been curious to try the newest italian joint in Old Colorado City - big mistake. The staff seemed, for some odd reason, completely overwhelmed (3 people serving 7-8 tables). The young waitress serving us forgot the salads that we ordered and failed to return for drink refills/re-orders (i.e. more beer). The couple seated next to us found, what appeared to be, a postcard size piece of paper cooked in with their lasagna. After waiting about 30 minutes, our meal finally arrived (oddly enough we kept hearing the buzzing of a microwave coming from the kitchen area - not sure why a microwaved meal took 30 minutes to prepare). I had ordered the linguine with a white wine and garlic clam sauce - what I received was spaghetti covered in butter and a few canned clams....one word, disgusting. My husband ordered the spaghetti with pignoli meatballs, it was fair. Two words of advice, stay away.
