General Info
Dr. Shariati grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with honors with a degree in Chemistry. He completed his medical degree at Medical College of Georgia followed by a residency in Obstetrics at the University of South Carolina. He then completed a three-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Indiana University. Dr. Shariati is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Urogynecologic Society, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and American Medical Association. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. His main interests are in minimally invasive surgery, bowel dysfunction, and preventative treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary and fecal incontinence. He has advanced training in electrophysiology of the pelvic floor. He has been performing minimally invasive robotic surgery for prolapse and incontinence since 2004. He was the first person to utilize the dual console robotic surgery for prolapse in the country. He has performed hundreds of robotic surgeries for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. He was a faculty member of the Urogynecology fellowship program at Atlantic Health System in New Jersey and has trained several surgeons in the field of Urogynecology before deciding to move to South Florida to be closer to friends and family.
