Great store has a mass variety of fish and supplies. The only thing that threw me off was I bought a fish and it infested my whole tank with Ick and killed all my fish except the ones I purchased at brookdale pet center (definetly a better place for fish). never shopping there again the prices are ridiculously high annyway

I visited on Saturday for the very first time to buy a pet fish for my son. The associate who helped us had no idea what he was talking about, but had no issue trying to up-sell our purchase anyway. A visit for a simple bowl, some gravel, and a gold fish ended up costing over a hundred bucks. We were given directions on tank temperature, feeding, etc. Yet when asked what kind of fish it was, life span, other fish it can be around etc., he was more worried about flashing a new tattoo he had on his arm. At check out, we were rung up then walked away from, had to not only ask for our purchases, but then for the actual fish too, which wasn't taken from the tank we physically saw by the way. Got all the way home to have to go back for items that had been left at the register out of reach and sight of us, but were paid for. The next day, the fish was gone, literally 24hours it lived, I am so upset and disgusted with this place, I will not ever return.

Highly recommended. Helpful staff, great selection, and high quality. It may cost more, but what do you expect from a store that actually takes care of their fish. You get what you pay for.

My son and I are new "fish people" and AF has totally helped us get started. The right kinds of fish, plants, water care etc in our tank have all been guided by the ridiculously smart group of people in this shop. Nick has helped us a few times and he is a very knowledgeable guy that is a pleasure to work with. Everybody in the shop is super and clearly likes what they are doing. This is the way you run a good business. I won't buy my livestock anywhere else. 2 thumbs up.

Ive been using Absolutely Fish for 4 years now; the customer service is excellent. This is the perfect place for the avid aquarist but also perfect for kids and family. The selection is robust and they have the ability to special order certain species if needed. Their Marine and African cichlid selections can not be topped by any fish store in the NY Metro area. I lived in the Metro for 7 years and struggled to find quality fish and solid service; most people dont realize different species require certain needs, Absolutely Fish tries to maintain the best natural aquatic environment for the fish they house to minimize stress and disease amongst other things. If you live in the metro this is honestly the best place to go overall. Not to mention they are willing to visit your home if you have special needs. Special thanks to Alex (specializes in fresh water) and Todd (the fish doctor) these guys exude excellent knowledge and great service and will never let you buy junk or ill fish.

Great experience so far. I just got off the phone with one of the kind employees. We are a veterans home for homeless veterans and were making a request for aquarium supplies and they took our request very seriously and they are looking into how they can help us keep out aquarium looking great for the men to enjoy! I rate this with a five stars for customer service!

I've been there 3 times. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's has a lot more going on than other places, but best in the country? I'm not that impressed. Is there an upstairs or something I missed? A lot of tanks have too much algae to clearly see what was for sale. The place is very busy on the weekends and it's difficult to get help.
