Progress shut off our power at 11:00 this morning because we had been on vacaton and forgotten to pay our bill before we left. It is now 6:00, and still no power. My wife's 87-year-old mother, who has a heart condition, is suffering in 90-degree heat, and Progress customer service says they don't know when someone will be there, and it's not their responsibility if someone dies. Too bad power companies don't have any competition, or Progress would be out of business.
I unfortunatly have this company as my electric provider and there charges are insaine, over the top, they steal from florida residents and if your 2days past due on your bill you inquire A LATE FEE AND!!!! NEGATIVE STANDING. that is ridiculous any electric company i have been in relationship with has at least 5 day grace period BEFORE any late fees ANDDDDD your account DOES NOT GET NEGATIVE PAYMENT HISTORY. YOU SUCK PROGRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only does Progress Energy charge me for a facility that hasn't been built yet, but they came to my house and destroyed my trees. I have three trees in my back yard, and one day I came home to find a crew cutting limbs from them. The act its self was not that distasteful, it was the fact that they left the trees lopsided and only hanging over my house. When asked to fix the trees I was told that the rest of the tree trimming was up to me. If I was looking to trim the trees that would be one thing, but in this economy I was not financially prepared to spend the money at this point in time. I was highly irritated with the cavalier attitude of the Progress Energy Employees from the tree trimming crew leader to the receptionist on the phone, all of whom acted as if I was the problem and they could care less if I walked away satisfied. I would use another energy company if one were available but such is a monopoly, I would not recommend Progress Energy as a company to voluntary do business with.
