Located in Clearfield, Pa., the Design and Construction Division is a part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The division operates the bureau of design that develops bridge and highway design policies and criteria with ensuring state and federal requirements, as well as bids projects. The bureau is involved in designing processes by providing surveying and mapping, acquiring consultant services, setting standards, reviewing highway and bridge projects, managing right-of-way acquisition, managing utilities for transportation projects and providing transportation projects for construction contractors to bid on. It also awards construction contracts and provides information technology to support and automate PennDOT's design functions. In addition, the Bureau is responsible for the department s design standards, specifications, policies, procedures and engineering computing programs that are developed and maintained by various divisions.
