The "vacant lot" across from the post office, was actually a property donated by my Father, James H. Norton, for the sole purpose of helping the village build a new fire station. Being third generation Clayvillian, the family has seen a lot of changes, and Dad was more than happy to GIVE this large piece of property that he owned, directly across from the family homestead. Once the "Gentleman's Handshake" agreement was made, the fire department went on to eliminate the fact that they would NOT have had it, but for him. Being a building contractor, he had expressed ideas that would blend into the community and make an outstanding building. Now he can look at a building that is too large for the lot, and be completely ignored by the firemen on "Grand Opening", "Men's Steak Night", or any other event. They do use part of his driveway to be able to back the trucks back into the station, tho. Through all of this, My Father is still happy to have helped the Village - anne norton crane
