General Info
WHAT IS HOSPICE? Hospice is a service, which is comprehensive in all aspects of caring for someone with a life limiting illness. Hospice is a team oriented service dealing with pain and symptom management, end of life situations, and emotional and spiritual stresses that may arise. HOW IT WORKS Hospice care is available to patients whose life expectancy is limited and can no longer benefit from curative treatment. Hospice cares for the person, rather than treating the disease. Patients are cared for in their home or home-like setting with services provided by a skilled team of professionals including physicians, registered nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides, and trained volunteers. Support services are also offered to the patients family which is an integral part of Hospice care. Anyone may refer a patient to Hospice; however, his or her physician must consent to Hospice care.PAYMENT & CARE Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurances. We accept Medicare allowance and there is never a charge to the patient. Meadowlark Hospice provides Hospice services to anyone in need regardless of their insurance coverage. You do not have to have cancer to utilize Hospice Care. Anyone with a life limiting illness may qualify. Hospice services are also available to people living in nursing facilities.
